cocktail hour: pink salty dog

Summer has supposedly left the building, but with the temperature above 80 degrees this sophisticated take on a salty dog looks just divine. (Recipe is below the break.)

I've been saving this delicious room pairing since I first saw it on Coco+Kelley in July. The room just sings for me. The wallpaper is the centerpiece of the room, its own work of art.

In my imagination, this room belongs to a doyenne of Miami society who swans around the pool and spends all night out sipping mojitos... and wouldn't these dramatic drapes do wonders for those post-party mornings?

  • Coarse salt, for rim of glass
  • Grapefruit slice, for garnish
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice
  • 2 tablespoons vodka
  • 1 tablespoon Campari liqueur, or grenadine
  • 1 to 1/2 cups ice cubes
Directions:

Place salt in a saucer. Moisten the rim of a glass with a grapefruit slice. Dip rim in salt. Combine juice and vodka with Campari or grenadine in the jar of a blender; blend. With the motor running, add ice until fully incorporated and slushy. Pour into prepared glass.
